NYFW - Derek Lam Spring 2012 RTW Collection

Derek Lam's clean cut and well crafted American Sportswear really shined in his newest collection. The warm browns and nudes thrown into the punchy orange and zesty yellows really brought out the California sun in him. What I love about his collection is that every piece is well executed with a few colourful and bold surprises thrown in. Take a coral knitted dress with a printed shirt worn underneath and top that with a brown leather jacket. Simple yet the colours work so well to compliment each other.

Check out the navy silk trousers with the white cuffs, the canary yellow sweater and the batik-like orange and blue prints on the dresses, it's enough to make you feel like you are somewhere tropical, far far away..

My favourite outfit would have to be the insanely orange pant-suit that just screamed "slap on some bronzer and make me a goddess!" I loved the way it  swooshed down the runway but was so structured and well defined at the top. If there is one outfit I can take with me to the Isle of Capri, this is it.
